Symptoms Of Anxiety
Symptoms of Anxiety Attacks and Their Consequences
The symptoms of anxiety attacks are extremely frightening. They can happen without any warning signs and, as they do, they are hugely devastating to the sufferer. Anxiety attacks — panic attacks — can leave the sufferer with a real feeling that they are having heart failure or that they are about to expire.
The symptoms of anxiety attacks, although very scary, won’t cause you harm. The symptoms are just the body’s own usual reaction to the victim’s irrational fears of some ‘upcoming doom’.
Seven recognized symptoms of anxiety attacks are as follows:-
1. Dizziness, lightheadedness.
2. Tingling sensation in fingers, feet etc.
3. Breathing irregularly, shortness of breath.
4. Tightness in the chest and throat.
5. Feeling of detachment from reality, being disorientated.
6. Palpitations, pounding heart, irregular heartbeat.
7. Also, while you’re experiencing the physical symptoms above, you have a real feeling of some ‘impending doom’.
(Note. Although these symptoms are some of the more usual symptoms of an anxiety attack, they can also be signs of other medical problems. Always consult your doctor, don’t self-diagnose.)
Even although these anxiety attacks can occur out of nowhere, there has to be an underlying cause or ‘trigger’, which could have occurred some time before the actual anxiety attack. Stress or general anxiety is the basis for an anxiety attack. Then all it takes is for something to trigger the actual anxiety attack.
So there exists two pieces of the puzzle here, the underlying general anxiety, and, the trigger that results in an anxiety attack. Often this trigger can be the fear of another attack itself, and you may have this fear without even realizing it.
It doesn’t matter how hard you attempt to get rid of your general anxiety: as long as the fear of an impending anxiety attack is present, there is nothing to prevent an attack ocurring again. It’s a vicious cycle.
Not only that, but recurring anxiety attacks can have serious consequences for your overall health and quality of life. So you must get rid of the fear of the symptoms of anxiety attacks first, then, eliminate the general anxiety.
