Treat Anxiety
What is the best herbal remedy for anxiety and depression?
St. John's wort has been wonderful for me – it worked, and the only side effect I have is my son (he overmetabolized my pills). And after the initial shock, which was Secondly – if you are taking anticoagulants, oral contraceptives, or other types of drugs that may be affected by it, you should consult your doctor before trying it. It can also make you more vulnerable to sunburn. Incidentally, my OB / GYN knew I was on St. John's Wort – And I had been over 2 years – but after I had my son in 1999 a series of articles began to appear on certain drugs affected by it. It just was not known then that it could happen. Thirdly – it takes several weeks (usually 4 to 6) to really begin to feel a difference. The reason I started was that I saw a show of 60 minutes on this subject. I always was kind of a bad mood, and I overthink things. I read the book we talked about the issue, and I tried to learn more about that from other areas too. When I started, I was overwhelmed with work and life and instead Wade to try my way through it, I just wanted to laze in front of the TV every night. Same chores hanging over me, all I could simply not get anything done, and was constantly behind. About 3-4 weeks into taking it, I suddenly realized that my kitchen was clean, my clothes were finished, and I did not insist and lamenting the fact that I had "soooo much to do:" I just did. For me it worked and has worked very sensitive. I stopped thinking about, and feel anxious and feel overwhelmed. For others, they say nothing changed. I think it depends on the chemistry of the brain – I did not start to be "good" for me (to eat better, exercise, etc.) until I started feeling better, so I can honestly say that the only thing that has changed is that I was taking this herb, and do things as I usually did, until I started having more energy and got more things. The reason I wanted to go herbal because I did not want to be dependent on a pharmaceutical drug. In fact, I read only a few reports in the last month who say it is very difficult to get off anti-depressants, and that was something I feared about. I was outside St. John's wort for over 2 years (I have stopped after I got pregnant and treated for 2 years). I do not take it regularly more, but when I take it I usually take a month or two. Oh, it is important to take the recommended dose of 900 mg (3 tablets) per day. Try to get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, eat healthily, which will also help.
