Treatment For Ocd
OCD and treatment duration?
If I have mild OCD and the doctor prescribed an SSRI (antidepressant) How long should I take this medicine? For a few months? Half a year? Several years? For the rest of my life? Thank you for any help.
What kind of OCD you have? My ex-partner had OCD in a number of things, not just one. He was more anxious and paranoid as any. It is now 22, was diagnosed at 16 years and received paroxetine for it. It was on the same dose for 6 years and it will be on it for the rest of his life, according to his doctor. He saw a psychiatrist who said sessions would reduce his time on the drug and would benefit him much, but he did not seek treatment and just sticks with the drug. He had very bad OCD for about a year, he was paranoid about everything and I mean it was really bad, after about seven months he has begun to better. Now he fears he will swallow cents / cents when he drank juice and he is paranoid about bugs being on the hands. So, practically it is cured, it is just a little more paranoid. It depends on the person, if you can fight it instead of ignoring it then it should not be too long, it depends on your willingness to defeat the disease.
